From its written history , Arabic alphabets with necessary modification have been adopted for Pashto writing. Although consonants and vowels of Pashto both have problems with this adopted script, the problem of vowels is more serious then that of consonants. There have been many conferences of scholars of all Pashto speaking areas Kabul, Quetta and Peshawar for the standardization of Pashto alphabets and orthography. The latest being in 1990 at Baragali campus of the Peshawar university, organized and sponsored by Pashto Academy. In this short paper the writer explains the different shapes of yeh (ي), adopted for Pashto, along with their use by giving examples from Pashto.
