Abstract:
Most of the naturel language processing (NLP) applications need a great deal of part of speech (POS) tagging. There is great demond for automatic POS taggers. The proposed architecture for the Pashto POS tagger has two components: a lexicon and tagging rules. The development of a lexicon is a critical issue in the development of an automatic POS tagger, because the accuracy of the tagger is largely dependent on the size of the lexicon. This paper proposes the design of an electronic lexicon for the POS tagger for Pashto. This lexicon is similar to the lexicon. The tagger can attach a tag to any inflection of a Pashto noune,verb or adjective, using this lexicon.
