Abstract = {The present article is a descriptive study of an interesting custom in
Pashtoon culture which consists of avoiding doing certain acts and mentioning specific words and expressions. The topic is know as "culture taboo" and is very important in both sociology and linguistics. It deserves much attention as an ethno-linguistic phenomenon in the above mentioned culture because nothing has been written on the custom of the society and may not have any rational justifications. Pashto like almost every culture of the world carries many types of taboos, out of which some are fading which previously were considered sever in nature and others are static to some extent. This first part of this article consists of the literature background and in the second part some major types of cultural specific taboos of Pashto have been discussed.},
