Abstract:
Munshi mean to read and write something, but in Pashto literature it is a technical term and means such writers who had worked with the orientalists. They were their teachers and wrote, compiled many books of Pashto literature for their studies particularly for those orientalists who had some interest to learn Pashto language and literature. Moulvi Ahmad of tangi was such a writer who had not only worked with the orientalists but also made help in preparation of famous text book "Kalid-i-Afghani" with tamps Patrick Hughes in 1872 A.D. He also worked for the development of Pashto prose. It was the struggle of Moulvi Ahmad who brought out the poetic prose of Pashto to plain words position for the readers. In this article such struggle, approach and his life history is discussed which was lying in the darkness.
