Abstract:
Charbeta stands second in Pashto folklore following tappa which has specific syllabic structure. Yet Charbeta is the only genre which does not confined to any specific literary structure and mechanism. Similar to its subjects, diversification it has multiple kinds. But strikingly other Pashto genres like Nemakai, Bagatai, Loba and Mostazad also are composed in the same structure and diction. Thus here the difficult question of differentiating Charbeta arises. So the only yardstick, we have, is the rhythmic characteristic of Charbeta. Charbeta has a particular rhythmic rise and fall, sharpness and flow identifying Charbeta with its specific characteristics, features and structure is the crux of the paper which are hereby penned down accordingly.
