Pattern Poetry\protect \RLتصويري شاعري (bibtex)
by Rubina Abidin
Abstract:
This article presents a brief history of Pattern poetry and its origin. The famous English poet G.Herbert pursued the same technique; he used it for his personal devotion to God. Many modern poets have adopted the same technical arrangements of words making it into a Pictorial form. This form of poetry is also called Concrete or Shaped poetry, the typographical arrangement of words is important to convey the intended effect as the formal component of the poem, such as meaning of words, rhythm, rhyme and so on. The term Visual poetry is also referred to this kind of poetry as the word form a picture with its distinct meaning. Not only Greek, English, French poets adopted this form of presentation but a Pashto poet, Samander also tried to present some of his poetry in this visual art.
