Abstract:
Fida Mutahir is a well known colloquial Pashto poet- a poet of the common folk. This poetry is largely recognized all over the world. Fida Mutahir belonged to the third period of the colloquial poetry. He attempted nearly all the famous genres of Pashto song. He joined the music section of Radio Pakistan Peshawar and composed hundreds of songs for the reputed Pashto singers to the middle period of Pashto music for presentation from Radio Pakistan. The said songs are kept preserved in the music library of Radio Pakistan. He has eight printed books and booklet at his credit but a large number of his songs are still lying unprinted with his son Dr. Inayat-ur-Rehman who is busy in compiling and composing them. His style is fluent and simple. He has incorporated largely the phraseology and terminology of the common folk in his poetry. In short, Fida Mutahir will always be remembered for his selfless service he has rendered for the Pashto music and Pashto songs.
