Abstract:
Some currect Pashto Folk stories" were collected by a British Armey officer of Punjab regiment, F.H MALYON during his stay at Tochi (Waziristan) and Yousafzai area, around 1909. He collects these Pashto Folk Stories from pathans as oral traditions, and edited them in three different dialects of Pashto i.e, AURAKZAI, AFRIDI and YOUSAFZAI. F.H. MALYON also translated all the 10 collected stories, in a simple but literary English. The original Pashto, stories along with their English translation were published in the jouranal of Asiatic society of Bengal, a 100 years ago, in February 1913. Unfortunately it remained unavailable to reader of Peshawar, Quetta, Kabul and Moscow. And fortunately, the writer recovered it during his visit to London, in 2011. This is a very important printed record of 100 years old Pashto folklore. Here a short introduction of this book is given, in this pashto article.
