Abstract:
This study describes the declaration of Pashto as the official language in the Swat State. The language prevalent before this declaration is also mentioned and discussed and the reasons and origin of this declaration are traced by the researcher. Furthermore, a discussion on the benefits of having Pashto as an official language is also taken. The researcher has also elaborated how and when this status of Pashto come to an end and elaborated how and when it was replaced by Urdu.
