Abstract:
Revenge means retaliate by doing equal harm to someone for oneself. To avenge is to punish a wrong impartially, whether oneself be the victim of it or not; to revenge oneself upon another is to do what one considers justice, but from selfish motives, as when one has suffered personally from the act. Revenge is a harmful action against a person or group in response to a grievance, be it real or perceived. It is also called payback, retribution, retaliation or vengeance; it may be characterized as a form of justice, an altruistic action which enforces societal or moral justice aside from the legal system. Vendettas or "blood feuds" are cycles of provocation and retaliation, fuelled by a burning desire for revenge and carried out over long periods of time by familial or tribal groups. There are different kinds of revenges on female, wealth, a piece of land etcs.. The first murder was on the question of a female. The concept of revenge in different religions is different, but no concept of revenge in Bhuddihsm, Jainism and Sikhism. Revenge is a natural human desire. This fact can only be fully appreciated when one has truly been physically, psychology or emotionally hurt by another person. In Pakhtun society Badal, which is part of a larger set of unwritten tribal codes of honour called Pashtunwali, does not apply to a neutral conception of revenge but is more related to the ‘defence of honour’. In perspective of Pakhtun’s concept of revenge in the society, geography also does mater.
