Abstract:
Charbetha is an important genre of Pashto folk poetry. It is open to discuss everything in it with freedom. Till 02th century no folk poet has given a place to irony and wit in charbatha. Irony and wit can be used for the reform of the society. Thus it has a double benefit of reform and enjoyment. In charbatha such richness is found that whenever someone listen to it. They experience an ecstasy. And when the spices of irony and wit are included then charbatha simply enchants. It is for this reason that folk poets have given a considerable palace to irony and wit in charbatha. Famous folk poet ostad Mir Gull Shah's 02 out of 03 charbathas are replete with irony and wit.
